RCT US and Glocal Green Sign MOU and Letter of Intent to Advance Green Methanol Production and Supply
[Lena, IL / Aalesund, Norway] — RCT US Inc. and Glocal Green AS are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Letter of Intent (LoI) to formalize their strategic partnership in the development and commercialization of sustainable methanol and dimethyl ether (DME) production.
Under this agreement, Glocal Green confirms its intention to purchase green methanol produced by RCT US, which is advancing a first-of-its-kind production facility located at Adkins Energy in Lena, Illinois. The first commercial project will be developed and operated through a joint venture between RCT US and Adkins Energy. This partnership brings together RCT’s proprietary CO₂-to-methanol technology with Adkins’ site infrastructure and access to biogenic CO₂. The partners are leveraging complementary capabilities to develop and operate a first-of-its-kind green methanol facility utilizing biogenic CO₂ and green hydrogen.
The Lena facility is designed to produce up to 123,000 tons per annum (TPA) of green methanol, including bio-e-methanol. In addition, the project will have the capability to produce renewable DME, a versatile, clean-burning fuel that is of strategic interest to Glocal Green’s markets in Norway and across Europe. This innovative facility supports a climate-neutral and zero-emission fuel cycle aligned with U.S. and EU decarbonization goals.

In addition to the Lena project, RCT US and Glocal Green intend to pursue offtake from other U.S.-based green methanol and DME projects. RCT US is also advancing production initiatives in the Netherlands and Poland, further anchoring its role as a key supplier of low-carbon fuels in both North America and Europe.
Glocal Green has developed a leading position in the European green methanol market through its integrated approach to production, distribution, and application of these sustainable fuels. Their growing network of offtake partners, especially in the maritime and industrial sectors, is accelerating the deployment of climate-neutral energy across the continent.
